Where problem dogs are no problem

Day 5

Well, there was a little excitement here tonight.  Apollo decided to pick a fight with Emma and he got all of the dogs on him.  I don't know why he picks on the females instead of Barney, probably because he knows Barney will kick his butt!  We got it all sorted out and Apollo is unhappily cooling off in a crate.  I hope this stops when he gets neutered.  After I let him out of the crate, he went and found Barney and started licking his face and rolling over on his back.  I guess he listened to Barney's 2 hour lecture when he got here!

He has been eating 1 1/2 cups of food twice a day and getting snacks in between.  He is learning to sit and wait for his dinner until I tell him OK.

  1. I hope that my dog that my mom was so kind to donate to ya'll instead of finding him a new "family" is being treated fairly and not being put in dangerous situations. It kind of upsets me how you posted that Apollo is in a situation where he is being ATTACKED BY NUMEROUS OTHER DOGS. I will hope that you will change your future methods when dealing with any other life form because this actually really angers me. We donated Apollo to you because yes, he is a handful and has way too much energy, but knowing this, you shouldn't have him surrounded by other dogs that are going to attack him? I'm kind of concerned and would like some more updates now, because this seems a little ridiculous.

    1. Gia, please be assured that Apollo is being taken care of an loved very much. He is learning how to get along in a pack of dogs which is necessary to keep him from being aggressive as an adult. Apollo is trying to exert his maleness among the girls, growling at them. We do what we can to keep anything from excalating into a fight here and we are always on top of things so no one gets hurt. I am sorry if it sounded otherwise to you. Apollo will be neutered next Wednesday so this should keep him a little calmer. We have already spent $400 on Apollo for medical care, so rest assured he is being taken care of. He spends most of the day sitting on my lap or sleeping on the couch. He no longer cries when he is left in the house because he knows we are not going to be gone all day. I don't find him to be much of a handful, the other dogs tire him out playing with him in he yard outside. The other option to keep him completely safe from ATTACKS BY NUMEROUS OTHER DOGS is to put him out in the kennel to live where he will not get much human contact except when he is being trained.

  2. It was just the choice of words of Apollo "getting all of the dogs on him" that sounded concerning to me. I am aware that in a pack of dogs he needs to learn the pecking order, and I'm sure he learned his lesson after that happened. I thank you for taking time out of your life to dedicate to training him, because clearly we were not in a situation to do so ourselves (and it certainly was not my idea to get a dog to begin with because of this). I hope that he simmers down as well when he gets neutered and he will find a home with a loving and caring veteran.
